How do I transfer this sentence from passive voice into active voice?
The passive voice is that the project had been delayed. Who delayed it? If you know that answer, then your solution is easy. If not, then you’ll have to work around it. If it’s for homework, then your teacher may let you get away with inventing a subject. So you can say: Following the meeting, the mayor held a press conference in which he admitted that he delayed the project for too many years. But, if you must be totally accurate, then be vague in the subect. A project must have project planner, right? So you can say: Following the meeting, the mayor held a press conference in which he admitted that the project planner had delayed the project for too many years. Personally, I find the sentence a bit unwieldy, though technically correct. If I were to rewrite the entire thing, I’d say: The mayor held a press conference after the meeting.
