How do I train my dog (boxer) to stay home at our farm?
It is nearly impossible to keep a wanderer at home. I finally invested in an invisible fence which worked like a charm. It did not take too much work to install and went around my whole place. My wandering dog took no time at all to learn her boundaries and I never worried about her again. You can buy it from Northern Tool and Supply as well as several other companies online. I would advise also investing in a larger collar than the one that comes with the package. The larger collar has a bigger shocker and patches more of a punch…
I have had this problem with new dogs. The method I use I always keep the dog restrained and allow no roaming. First you need to find out the places you want him to be and the places you don’t want him to go. He will eventually accept the areas you allow him to go as his territory. Never let him run free this is how dogs run away get stolen or hit by cars. Check and see what you animal ordinance law is for your area I’m sure it is against the law for him to be allowed to roam. Never leave him unattended. It may help if you neuter him it will be less temptation for him to run away if you do.
