How do I to stop a woodpecker from pecking my cedar siding?

The only reason he is pecking is he has found a source of food ….”bugs” I think it really insensitive that you would want to deprive that sweet little birdie of food……..ok enough of that crap. Spray the area(s) where he is pecking with a bug spray; (I use wasp spray because it shoots further) the little pecker will not return to that area. Spray every subsequent area the same way …eventually he will leave as the food source is gone; then do your patching.
