The touch screen also known as the digitizer only reads input from the stylus when you use it on the screen, If you can still see the image under the broken glass you probably only need the touch screen. If you can also see blue or black ink spots or no image is displayed at all or under the broken glass you will definitely need a complete iPAQ replacement screen.
