How do I tell fundie Christian parents that Im not a Christian anymore?
There’s no good way to tell your family you don’t share their worldview – trust me, I know…read my profile. You absolutely WILL hurt their feelings. They might react with sadness, anger or resentment (or denial), and you must be prepared to face this. I haven’t told my whole family, it was hard enough telling my mom and sister. I was faced with a lot of questions, but the answers were pretty easy – just explained to them what I believed. I tried as hard as I could to soften the blow with careful wording…I don’t know if it helped or not. It will be hard if you’ve determined to do it, you can expect that. All I can really tell you is that you have to be prepared to hurt their feelings – it’s hard, so very hard, to do. Lastly, if you’re going to be living with them for awhile, you might find it best to keep it to yourself. I waited until well after I moved out of the house. Tofu Beast is probably right, you might even try the term secular/secularist.
