First, I’d teach one in a halter and you can either use a lead rope with or without a chain. Your preference and whichever your horse responds better to. I always use one with a chain since when I show in showmanship, you have to use a chain lead. First start off by having them square with all 4 feet lined up so their balanced. Then take your right hand and put it on their withers as you’ll be teaching them pressure points basically to park out. Eventually, you’ll get to where they’ll do it on command. Put your thumb on one side of the wither and the rest of your hand on the other side.
