Teaching children moral and ethical values is one of the most important aspects of parenting. It should be reinforced at school, but this does vary among educational establishments. Some schools will be more preoccupied with achieving educational grades. Children readily absorb new knowledge and experiences, and are, today, exposed to a range of influences, not all healthy or desirable. Any parent who is thinking about instilling a sense of moral values is already demonstrating a commitment that will make success more likely. Treat people as you want to be treated. Do not allow your children to hear you talking negatively about a neighbor or relative. It may be unrealistic for parents to never quarrel in front of children, but do not talk in a disrespectful way to another adult in the range of hearing of the children.
