Take Single-Day FAMVIR as your doctor has prescribed: Take two 500-mg FAMVIR tablets as soon as you feel an outbreak starting. Take another two 500-mg FAMVIR tablets about 12 hours later. Take at the first sign or symptom. The effectiveness of FAMVIR has not been established when treatment is started more than 6 hours after the onset of symptoms or lesions.
