How do i take care of a wild birds egg?
Firstly, I know that you were trying to help but… I don’t know what the color of the egg is so I can’t tell you what the bird is. However, chances are that if you were in your yard and you found it on the ground a hatchling from the nest pushed the egg out or it may have been removed from the nest by a nest parasite called the Brown-headed Cowbird. Cowbirds remove eggs from a host nest and lay their eggs in the nest. The other parents end up raising the cowbirds. Also, there are several birds that nest on the ground, most commonly Killdeer. Killdeer parents make their presence known so it probably is not a Killdeer. Anyways, you do not have the capabilities to raise a baby bird. I know this sounds harsh but you can either grow attached to it and have it die or replace it where it was found. Legally you should replace it. I hope this answers your question.
