Not having a CD drive is a bad sign. Is it worth salvaging? It can be done in a variety of ways. First do you have a legal copy of windows that you can install? You can reconnect the laptop hard drive to another PC with a CD ROM and format the laptop drive and copy windows over so you can install it after you reinstall the drive. If your uncle is around and speaks Chinese you can network it and copy the req files over the LAN. Then reformat and reinstall. If you have a copy of Norton Ghost you can ghost over an image. You can try to get a hold of an OEM restore disk through the manufacturer, dealer or ebay. You can get an external CD drive to read any CD/s.
