CAOT issues a statement of candidacy to exam candidates as proof of eligibility to write the CAOT exam. The statement of candidacy is valid for five (5) years. Canadian graduates: The statement of candidacy letter is sent upon your request, however, first your school must confirm directly with CAOT that you have completed all of the degree requirements. The Canadian university occupational therapy programs send the graduating class confirmations automatically to the CAOT National Office each spring and fall. If the provincial regulatory organization needs a copy of your statement of candidacy, you will need to fill out a request form for CAOT to issue your letter. Internationally educated candidates: When your application to establish eligibility to write the CAOT certification examination is approved, you will be sent a statement of candidacy which is proof of eligibility.
