If your references look like this in your Word document: 2004104 1047Lord Scott of Foscote, Lord Rodger of Earlsferry, Baroness Hale of Richmond, Lord Carswell and Lord Brown of Eaton-under-Heywood In Word 2007: click on the Microsoft logo on the top left of the word document; select Word Options from the bottom of the box that appears; select Advanced from the left menu; scroll down to Show document content; make sure Field Codes is NOT ticked and click OK. In older versions of Word, go to Tools (on the Word top menu), then Options, then View – then make sure field codes is not ticked.
