How Do I Stop Spokes From Loosening On My Bicycle?

A few have suggested LocTite. Don’t use it in this case. Use the spoke thread compound. Here is why. Spokes will eventually need to be adjusted regardless of what compound you apply — it is the nature of having spoked wheels. If you use spoke compound you can turn the nipple on the spoke. If you use LocTite the chances of turning the nipple with a normal spoke wrench are slight. According to LocTite corporation, their Blue product (the lightest bond) requires up to double the torque to turn the threads, and if you are foolish enough to use their Red, you must apply heat. There will be others here who will swear they use LocTite with no problems. If that is the case the Loc-Tite product was mis-applied in the first place. When used according to their directions 1 drop will hold for life.
