How do i stop my dog from barking without a shock collar?
Determine what you consider acceptable barking and when you want it to stop. Allow your dog to bark briefly, but not continuously, Make sure your dog knows you’re in charge. When your dog barks, do not allow the behavior to continue or he will think you agree with the behavior. Tell her to stop barking in a calm and assertive voice. Dogs understand more than we think they do. Another way also is when she goes to do a bark you don’t approve of is to grab her attention and when she pays you the attention, give her a treat…
Hitting a dog doesn’t work and is cruel Muzzling a dog doesn’t work and can spark aggression issues Crating the dog doesn’t solve the problem You need to TRAIN the dog. Positive reinforcement. When the dog is quiet, it gets a treat. When it barks, it doesn’t. There is no magic cure that will instantly quiet a dog. You have to put effort into training. If you need a quick, short-term fix, you can try a citronella collar. Dogs don’t like the smell of citronella. The collar is sound activated to spray a puff of citronella when the dog barks. Dog barks, collar sprays, dog gets a whiff and figures out bark=bad smell. This will not fix the problem of a dog reactive to various stimuli, but it will at least prevent your neighbors from calling animal control until you get the problem fixed.
You need to find out WHY she is barking because there will be a reason. Don’t listen to the idiots who claim they like dogs but use violence and punishment in this day and age to solve problems with their dogs and sadly advise it too. Your dog is barking because she feels she needs to for some reason so spraying her in the face, whacking her or shouting at her will not make her feel any better and will not resolve the underlying issue. Look at things from her point of view. What triggers the barking and is she frightened of it, frustrated by it or does she want to play with it? I can’t tell you the answer without seeing or observing your dog however if you contact a member of the APBC or John Rogerson as they will evaluate your dog and give you a treatment programme to follow. Have her health checked too if you haven’t recently to make sure she hasn’t got a medical problem, this has to be thorough. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘gets out’ so don’t feel I can comment any further.
they can bark with a muzzle and that can worsen the problem when they get it off they’ll go nutz so i say a prong pinch collar when he/she barks a corrective tug and tell him/her shhh or quiet after a couple of days it should stop if not gotta be some form of anxiety they have puppy prozac which i do not recommend but it helps a little but will sedate ur pup which also suxxxx worse comes to worse shock em
