How do i stop bugs eating my peppermint plant?
There are different “bugs” which like to eat peppermint: Hop flea beetles ( Psylliodes ) don`t like to be treated with a broom; they jump away and don`t come back. They also hate it, if you put some heads of matchsticks into soil. Mint leaf beetle, Chrysomela coeruleus, mint flea beetle, Longitarsus ferrugineus, mint bud mite, Floridotarsonemus sp., two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae, shield beetle, Cassida viridis and black point cicadas, Eupteryx atropunctata are harder to control: http://www.ipmcenters.org/cropprofiles/d… Sometimes the only way to get rid of them is to cut all plants ahead of time. As a preventive don`t cultivate young and older plants in one patch and let them grow two years maximum.
