How do i stop boiled pasta sticking together?
The main tips are: use plenty of water (salted, otherwise the pasta will come out tasting sweetish — a real no-no over here: heaven forbid you should forget the salt!) in a large, deep pot, bring the water to a rolling boil before adding the pasta, and stir it every once in a while as it cooks — stirring and lifting and jiggling it (with a long-handled 2-tine fork for long pasta or a long-handled spoon for short pasta), to separate the pieces or strands. You can’t just put it in the water and leave it there, otherwise it will all clump together. This is usually sufficient to ensure the pasta does not stick. Over here, we usually don’t add olive oil to the water, but if necessary you can, and that should help further. BTW, cooked pasta should only be drained, NOT rinsed, and when it’s drained the pieces/strands should already be loose and separated.
