How do I start flower seeds indoors?

Choose flower seeds according to the needs of your landscaping. Consider if you need shorter flowers, such as pansies for a walkway or taller flowers, such as Shasta daisies for a mid to back section of a flower bed.Fill a seed tray (found at garden centers) with potting soil, but leave a ½ inch space clear at the top of the seed compartments. Mist the soil with a water bottle to moisten it. Poke a hole in each of the seeding compartments of the tray. Follow the depth directions on the back of the seed packet, as different seeds must be planted at different depths. Put the seeds in the holes and cover them with soil. Place the clear cover, that came with the seeding tray, over the top of the planted seeds.Put the tray near a sunny (northern, if possible) window. Check the soil daily. If it is dry, spray it with the water bottle. Take the clear cover off of the tray as soon as the seeds start to sprout. Continue to spray them with water as the soil dries.
