How do i start a petition nationally against nursing home negligence?
As a worker in a nursing home I have seen exactly what your talking about and a lot more. Right now Nursing homes are the most regulated industry in the US probably because of such abuses. Yet, it still goes on. You need to look to a lawyer if you have proof of this neglegence, not so that you can get rich, but so that it will put the nursing home in a bind. Personally I will try ANY MEENS NECESSARY NOT to put a loved one in a nursing home, but if I absolutely have to I would do several things. 1. Research the nursing home. There are several web sites you can use to see reviews about the nursing home. Ask to see the results of the last survey. Every nursing home is required to have it avaliable to residents and family members. 2. Be alert for any signs of neglect. Time how many minutes it takes them to answer a call bell even time them at night by calling your loved one and having them do it while your on the phone, or if permitted, come in in the evening hours and time it yourself.
