How Do I Speed Up My Intel Celeron Processor System?
I have many suggestions: 1 – Add more RAM. Another stick of 512MB DDR would improve your system noticeably. 2 – Replace the CPU with a faster Celeron or Pentium CPU. You will need to find out what sort of processors your motherboard model is compatible with. These are fairly easy to find on eBay (usually cheap). I would recommend a Pentium III instead of a Celeron. 3 – Instead of replacing your Celeron, you can try overclocking it. They are good for that. Google “overclock Celeron” for info. Even if you are computer illiterate, it is somewhat easy. (Assuming you use Windows) 4 – Uninstall any software you don’t really need. Also, it helps to use MSconfig to stop a bunch of useless stuff from running. Here is how to do that: http://www.pchelpforum.com/windows-tutorials/10204-using-msconfig-disable-startup-programs.html 5 – Consider doing a clean install of Windows XP (or look into a free, open source OS like Ubuntu) 6 – Consider getting a new computer. Yours sounds pretty old.
