How do I show my own deep sky objects in Stellarium?

Stellarium is great to show your own collection of deep sky objects. If you want to add your own images in Stellarium, you will need to put the textures in Stellarium’s texture directory, and if necessary change the messier.fab file. If you are using your own photographs, or you have access to files that can be used freely, it would be great if you made them available for everyone, and we can include them in future versions of Stellarium.
