Before you even list the item, package it up. Include a sheet or two of paper *just in case* and then weigh it. I use a digital food scale I have at home that can handle up to a few pounds. Then visit www.canadapost.ca. Under the Personal tab, select “Find a Rate”. Select “In Canada” first. Enter your dimensions and weight. Find the cheapest rate…I always pick a postal code in BC (since it’s the furthest from my home)…try V1A 1A1. Then do it again. Select “To the USA” and do the same thing. I use 90210 since it’s a California zip code far from where I am. Once I have my rates, then I can list my item. I ALWAYS ship Canada Post. If you ship by courier, then you run the risk of having the receiver pay for brokerage fees and duty/taxes. You might not care, but your buyer will be pretty miffed and you might get negative feedback because of the extra charges.
