How do i setup web server or web hosting to my own register domain name web site?

First you need some type of web server. What kind you get depends on what you intend to do with your site and what OS is on your computer. For Windows you’ll find that IIS is free and easy to use. You can get it from Microsoft. If you’re running a version of Linux, go with apache which is also free. Once you set up your server you’ll need to put up at least a parking page until you’re ready to put your site online. Then point your domain to your IP address. If you have a router and/or firewall you’ll need to enable port forwarding from port 80 to your local IP and make sure your firewall does not block port 80 traffic. If you don’t have a static IP address then check and see if your registrar offers a free Dynamic IP Update utility or supports one your router may have. If they do not then every time your IP address changes, you’ll have to go edit your DNS records to point to the new IP address and your site will be unavailable until that change propagates.

*Sadly, we had to bring back ads too. Hopefully more targeted.
