Yahoo! Messenger 9 is very similar to Yahoo! Messenger 8, except with a few added features. The major difference between the two is the way the contacts list looks. Thankfully, with Yahoo! Messenger 9, Yahoo! added more in-depth customization so you can change the way you view your contacts. You can make it look almost just like you had it on Yahoo! Messenger 8. Open and log in to Yahoo! Messenger. Click “Messenger” at the top of the Messenger window. Click “Preferences” from the drop-down menu that appears. Select the “Appearance” category. Click “Compact View” under “Messenger List.” This gives the look of the older version, where you could fit more contacts in the window.
