How do I set up a wireless access point without a wired connection to the router?

Most wireless access points and wireless routers require an Ethernet connection from a computer to the access point or router to administer the initial settings. You can connect a computer of any type to the access point or router via Ethernet and configure it, then disconnect the Ethernet. On my D-Link DiR-655 wireless router, you can press the “WiFi NOW” button. This allows a computer 2 minutes to connect automagically via wireless to the wireless router. Once that is done it will allow that computer access to the administration settings until you lock the wireless router down again with the setting in the admin section. You still need a computer with a browser to configure the wireless access point or router. As far as wireless for TIVO series 1, I read an article recently in “Smart Computing” that indicated this is not possible. They suggested TIVO series 2, I believe. I use a TV tuner in my PC for recording so I wasn’t too concerned at the time.
