How do I set the correct time?/ Does the GPS receiver automatically adjust for daylight savings?

GPS units operate on UTC time. UTC is the Universal Coordinated Time or Greenwich Mean Time (GMT). Your local time is behind or ahead of Universal time depending on where you are in relation to Greenwich, England. In the U.S., you will subtract the hours difference to arrive at a correct local time reading. You can input a local offset (or difference) from UTC so that the unit will display your local time. This setting can be changed from the Trip page menu – Change Time option. A chart is provided in the owner’s manual to help you select the appropriate offset for your area. GPS receivers do not adjust for daylight savings since the GPS satellite circle the globe and can be received anywhere on earth.
