How do i secure my wireless modem?

Many people have many ideas on this. But this is the best I’ve seen. 1. Choose encryption, at the highest rate – people who have the desire to hack you encryption key, or data, will have a harder time doing it. 2. Log into your wireless router / modem and choose to allow connections by selected MAC addresses. All network devices have a MAC address, and your computers will too. Go start/run/ and enter ‘cmd’, without the inverted commas and press enter. At the command prompt, type ‘ipconfig’, and you will see a list of ip addresses and associated MAC addresses. Note the MAC addresses for all devices you wish to allow access to your wireless modem. Back at your modem configuration utility, simply enter all these MAC addresses as authorised to have access. NO OTHER DEVICES (hackers, freeloaders, nosey people) will be able to get in then. You need to add MAC addresses for every device you have, but it is the best way. 3. Have a nice day.
