How do I restore factory setting on HP laptop?

0

To restore HP laptop, Hold down F11 to get to restore partition (check your models documentation.) It may be much slower than optimal like mine because HP put gigabytes of junk on it. Some examples are Norton antivirus, games, MS works, etc etc. It took me about 2 hours to uninstall the junk. The main problem was Norton. Once that was gone, the computer ran much better. I had a 40GB hard drive and the “factory” install was 17GB!! A fresh install of Windows XP alone is 4GB. An external hard drive would not be faster because it would be USB which is a slower interface that the interface of the internal hard drive. More memory is alway better if the laptop supports it/has enough free slots.
