How do I reset the High Message Number (HMN) in a newsgroup(s)?
You can either reset one newsgroup’s HMN, or all newsgroups’ HMNs. A. One newsgroup – To reset a single newsgroup’s HMN, right-click on that newsgroup’s icon and select the Configuration item from the little pop-up menu. Then, enter a 1 in the High Message Number box (if you want to download all headers/messages in that newsgroup), or enter a negative number, such as -200 (if you want to download just the last 200 headers/messages in that newsgroup) B. All newsgroups – To reset all of the newsgroups’ HMNs, select Configuration|Newsgroups… from the main menu, click on the “Defaults” button, enter the HMN value that you wish to use [see (a) above] into the High Message Number box, and then click on the Global button to the right of the box. All of your newsgroups will now be using the value that you entered.
