Once you restore the computer to factory settings. The computer will be in the state of when you first turned it on. You will have to re-install all your programs as well as transfer back any of the files you want. As for restoring it to factory settings. You don’t need the disc unless you deleted the recovery partition. To restore it from the recovery partition just open up the HP recovery manager that came pre-installed with the computer (refer to owner’s manual if you are unsure) and just follow the instructions.
