How do I request additional sessions for medication management?

Medication management—which is billed with a code of 90862—does not require prior approval. Visits billed with the code 90862 are not counted toward a Tufts Health Plan member’s mental health benefit limit. If you are providing psychotherapy with medication management and billing with codes, 90805/90807 complete the Mental Health Care Services Request for Additional visits (MHCSR). Please note: If medication management care begins with an initial evaluation billed with code 90801, an authorization is needed for the initial visit. The initial evaluation billed with a code of 90801 will subtract from the member’s mental health benefit.
