How do I replace an outdoor light fixture?
Remove the Old FixtureDisconnect the power from the source. A switch on the wall or a breaker in the panel will disconnect electrical current from a light fixture. Insure the power is off by testing with an electrical tester. Unscrew the fixture from the wall, and examine the junction box inside the wall for serviceability. Measure the diagonal distance between screw holes.Select a New FixtureSelect a new light fixture. Consider the area of illumination, the style that matches the exterior and security programming before deciding on a model. Some of the new compact fluorescent lights do not operate inside every outdoor light fixture, and some yard lighting can bombard the neighbors with unwanted illumination. very easy here, make sure power switch is off , then remove screws or whatever is holding the fixture on, thn disconnect the wires, putting caps back on house wiring til youre ready ti install new fixture, then remove mounting plate unless its exact the same as your new one, and then go in reverse order to install new one remembering white to white and black to black, green to any screw or green wire, remount fixture, install new bulb and glass and turn switch back on to test
