How do I replace a toilet flapper seat?
Disconnect the Tank ComponentsShut off the water supply to the toilet and remove the toilet lid. Flush the toilet, holding down the handle to remove as much tank water as you can. Absorb the remaining tank water with a towel. Disconnect the flapper chain from the flush lever and disconnect the refill tube from the top of the overflow tube. Remove the connecting nut that attaches the water supply hose to the tank and remove the hose from the tank.Replace the Flush Valve AssemblyRemove the two bolts in the bottom of the tank that flank the flush valve assembly, using a screwdriver on the bolts while holding a wrench on the nuts below the tank. Lift the tank and lay the tank upside down on a towel placed on the floor nearby. Unscrew the nut on the bottom of the tank, using a pair of slip-joint pliers. Remove the flush valve assembly, to which the flapper seat is connected. Slide the cone washer onto the bottom of the new flush valve assembly and position the new assembly into the tank. Ti
