How Do I Repair or Replace a 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis Window Motor?
The window regulator found in the Mercury Grand Marquis is a single-channel, cable-operated mechanism. The channel has a roller on both ends and a window support that rides in the middle of the vertical channel. The window motor is secured to the doorframe and operates a cable that loops around the window regulator vertical channel. As the motor changes direction, the cable lifts or lowers the window. Turn the ignition key on and lower the window halfway if possible. If it will not lower, this will be dealt with later. Using the Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws in the armrest and on the bottom of the door panel. Lift the door panel straight up to unhook the panel from the door and pull it away just enough to disconnect the electrical plug from the window switch. Remove the panel. Peel the moisture barrier away from the access hole in the door. Disconnect the electrical plug from the window motor.
