How Do I Remove Sewer Odor in a Washing Machine?
Due to various causes, including sewer backups, your washing machine can develop a sewer odor or sewer-like stench. This unpleasant smell can ruin your laundry’s freshness, making even washed clothing seem unclean. Although you can find commercially available products to remove this odor from your machine, you can also try home remedies. Mix 1/2 cup of baking soda with 2 cups of distilled vinegar. Run your machine on its hottest wash cycle and add in the mixture. Let the machine run the full cycle. Afterward, run a cold wash cycle through to finish the cleaning process. Run your machine on its hottest wash cycle again if the smell persists, this time adding 1 cup of bleach. Let the cycle finish then follow with a cold wash cycle.
