How do I remove scratch resistant coating from glasses?
As scratch resistant coating ages, it sometimes peels or decays in a way that limits visibility through your eyeglasses; in these cases, you can remove it from plastic lenses. Set up your work space in a well-ventilated space, as glass etching cream contains hydrofluoric acid, which is irritating to the respiratory passages. Wear plastic gloves, as hydrofluoric acid is also abrasive to the skin. Using a cotton swab, apply the glass etching cream gently to the outside surface of your eyeglass lenses. Wait five minutes for the cream to work. Rinse your eyeglasses carefully under lukewarm running water until all the cream is completely gone. Dry the lenses using a soft cloth.
