How do I remove a file from the recently opened file list in Microsoft Word?

To remove files from the list at the bottom of the File menu, first press Ctrl-Alt– (that’s the minus key). When you do, the mouse pointer changes to a minus sign. Now from the menu bar select File, then click on the item in the Recent Files list that you want to remove. It’s gone!
