Refinance your mortgage to remove unwanted co-signers from the debt. The only way to remove the co-signer is through the mortgage refinancing process. It officially removes the co-signer from the deed and refinances the mortgage in just the borrower’s name. Or an additional co-borrower or co-signer can be added at this point. Contact your mortgage lender and request a mortgage loan application. You will have to provide your full legal name, Social Security number, date of birth, employment and income information. Allow the mortgage lender to check your credit and process your application.
