How do I register a Name Server in the AusRegistry database?
Generally, to register a Name Server in the AusRegistry database simply submit a delegation request for a com.au, org.au, id.au or asn.au domain name. If the Name Server is not already registered then our systems will automatically create a record for it in the registry. If you have tried this and you received an error message then the possible causes for the error are: • The host name ends in com.au, org.au, id.au or asn.au and Melbourne IT is not the sponsoring Registrar. Melbourne IT may not register a Name Server if the host name of the Name Server ends in com.au, org.au, id.au or asn.au and Melbourne IT is not the sponsoring Registrar. In such a situation, the license-holder for the parent domain name must either contact their Registrar for assistance or transfer their domain name to Melbourne IT. • The host name ends in gov.au Melbourne IT cannot currently register Name Servers that end in gov.au.
