How do I recover deleted files from Windows XP?

Log on to your computer using the same user account that you used when you deleted the file you now want to recover. Go to your Windows XP desktop. If you have any active programs running on your computer, minimize their windows by clicking on the underscore symbol in the upper right corner. Double-click on the “Recycle Bin” icon located on your desktop. Find the file you would like to recover. Right-click on it and select “Restore” from the shortcut menu. The file will return to the same folder it used to be saved in before you deleted it. If you would like to restore the file to a different folder, right-click on the file and select “Cut” from the shortcut menu. Open the folder where you would like to save the file.
