How do I receive monetary restitution due to financial damage as a result of unfair business practices?
The Department of Consumer Protection has the ability to offer monetary restitution to consumers who have been financially damaged as a result of unfair business practices in the areas of new home construction, home improvement, health club membership, and purchases from itinerant vendors. A portion of the required annual registration fees for each corresponding group, new home builders, home improvement contractors, health club owners, and itinerant vendors are used to finance the corresponding guaranty fund. Persons wishing to seek compensation from one of the guaranty funds must meet certain conditions and follow certain steps and guidelines. For more information on DCP Guaranty Funds please click here.
