For incoming freshmen, placement in Honors and AP classes is based on a student’s entrance exam score, his grades from junior high school, and the Math placement exam. For sophomores through seniors, placement is based on application processes and achievement in feeder classes. So even if a student doesn’t qualify for some Honors classes as a freshman, he can work his way into them via a strong academic performance freshman year.
