It is possible that the “out of the box” software might be on the CD that you should have had with the unit. If so it might be worth copying that onto your card You don’t have to do anything to the card, most are pre-formatted and even though the TomTom runs a form of Linux OS it reads cards formatted to Windows FAT32 standard (which most are). If you have a card reader you can even use that to copy the files over I’m fairly certain that on the CD there should be an image of the contents of the SD card. If so I would be tempted to load that onto your spare card and try that.
