The easiest method for converting images from ArcView into a web-ready format (GIF or JPEG) is by screen capture. A screen capture takes a snapshot of what you have displayed on the screen and saves it into the clipboard (analogous to copying and pasting text). By pressing and simultateously, you will capture the entire contents of the screen. Similarly, by pressing and , you can capture just the active window. After you have copied the screen image into the clipboard, open Photoshop and paste the contents of the clipboard into a new file. Your image might look grainy at first, especially if you are not viewing it at 100%. To change the zoom level, select the View pull down menu (tip: “Actual Pixels” = 100%). If you want to clip a portion of the image, draw a box around it with the dashed rectangle tool (), then select Crop from the Image pull down menu.
