How do I properly dispose of unwanted, unused or expired prescription drugs?
According to the official Federal Prescription drug disposal guidelines: • Take them to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection sponsored by the Delaware Solid Waste Authority (DSWA). See their website for dates. • Some pharmacies may take back unused or expired prescriptions. Check with your local pharmacy. • Dispose of them in the regular trash by removing them from their original containers and mixing with an undesirable substance, such as coffee grounds or kitty litter. Place them in non-descript containers or sealed bags, and place them in the trash.
