When directly importing a CSV list that includes PIT tag codes, Excel will corrupt any code consisting entirely of digits except for a single “E”. Excel perceives codes with this mask as a value represented in scientific notation, rather than as a hexadecimal value. The solution to this problem is to rename your CSV list with a “TXT” extension; this will force Excel to import all of the tag codes as text.
