How do I press weird things like cacti or aquatic plants?
Cacti have to be cut open or sectioned and scooped out, then salted or brushed with alcohol so they won’t rot. They’re a lot of trouble, and prickly pear is on the “noncollectible” list, so it’s probably best to just give cacti a miss. Aquatic plants can often be floated onto a sheet of paper and the sheet of paper put into the press. We have pans in lab that can be used for doing this.
