How do I preserve a rose petal?
Remove the petal you want to preserve from the rose. Place it between two sheets of unglazed paper. Newspapers or phone book pages work well for pressing a flower for preservation. Cover the top sheet of paper with a piece of flat cardboard and place a heavy object on top of it. Wait a few weeks so the moisture is removed from the petal. Remove the petal from between the sheets of paper, and it will be preserved.Store the preserved petals in an airtight container such as a plastic bag. The petals will be fragile when they are dried, so place the container in a safe place where it will not accidentally be disturbed. Once pressed, the petals typically will not regain moisture unless they are kept in humid conditions.
