Scoop the seeds from a large, ripe papaya and place them in a mesh strainer. Rub the seeds to break the sac surrounding the seed. Rinse the seeds and let them dry on a paper towel.Plant several papaya seeds in a 1-gallon container filled with potting mix. Cover the seeds lightly with approximately a half-inch of soil and water thoroughly.Keep the soil moist until the seeds germinate, in approximately two to three weeks. Choose the most vigorous plant and clip away the remaining stems with clippers or sharp scissors. Fertilize with a diluted solution of a balanced water-soluble fertilizer every two weeks.
