How do I plant a Monrovia rhododendron?

0

PreparationPlant Monrovia rhododendrons in spring or fall in cold areas, and in fall in hot areas for best success. Choose a site that has partial shade and good drainage. Amend the soil by mixing in organic compost to enrich the soil and help it drain. End with half compost and half garden soil. If you have clay-like soil, add sand as well to produce 30 percent compost, 30 percent soil and 30 percent sand. Soak the rhododendron in water to loosen and prepare the roots.PlantingDig a hole that is slightly larger than the Monrovia rhododendron’s root ball. Take the root ball from the water and loosen the roots. Place it in the hole and spread the roots so that they have good contact with the soil. The top of the root ball should be at the surface. Cover the roots with soil and pat the soil down. Water the site thoroughly.
