I need to sample a sand-blasting operation in a room that has no forced ventilation. The blasting lasts only 20 minutes each day. The employee wears a hood only during the operation. If respirable silica dust is generated during the blasting, it will remain suspended long afterward. The air is rarely still enough for the dust to completely settle.
